“SAVE
A LIFE AT CHRISTMAS CAMPAIGN”
Can you help? In return we might be able to help you!
Christmas is coming which, unfortunately, means a busy time for the
Society and its very dedicated team of volunteers. Along with many
other animal protection societies Argyll Animal Aid will not re-home
any of its expanding numbers of homeless residents over the Christmas
and New Year period. Many of you will have heard horror stories about
animals given as Christmas presents and then abandoned after the festive
period just as if their batteries have run out like an unwanted toy.
Then there are the pets that have been faithful friends over the years
but are found to be an inconvenience over the holiday period, so are
just thrown out to fend for themselves, or worse still, abandoned
to make room for a newer, younger model.
We know there are many good homes waiting for a new resident to expand
the family unit, but as many of our animals have had very traumatic
lives, the quite innocent upheaval of Christmas can be too much for
them to deal with. All of this creates a considerable amount of extra
work for our willing volunteers who lovingly give their time, but
one thing they do struggle to overcome is the extra financial burden.
By popular request we are again running the scheme called “Save
A Life At Christmas”.
Have you got an animal-loving relative or friend who has everything
so you don’t know what present to buy them? Then this may be
the answer to create that feel-good factor.
If you would like to sponsor a cat for £10.00 a week or a dog
for £25.00 a week we will send you a Christmas Card (and envelope)
with a picture attached and a brief history of their adopted friend.
We are a very easygoing bunch of people so if you would like to be
just a little bit selfish and treat yourself we would be pleased to
oblige. When tucking into your Christmas Feast there can be nothing
more satisfying than knowing that your adopted friend is also getting
something that little bit special. Also you can be sure that they
are in a warm and safe environment with plenty of love, care and attention.
If you would like to participate in this scheme please fill in the
form here and send it to the address indicated.
One
way we are able to raise money is by recycling old inkjet and toner
cartridges (but not Epson), and mobile phones. If you have any you
can spare for us they can be left at the cattery on Seil, or Kanine
Kats in Oban, or Oban Vets.
Used
Stamps
One
of our supporters is collecting used postage stamps to raise money
for our animals.
She can accept UK and foreign stamps, please leave on the envelope
and cut (not tear) the stamp off, leaving a margin of at least 1/2".
