There's a story about a man on a beach, standing in the waves and throwing back into the water all of the starfish which were coming in with the tide. Another man had been standing and watching for some time, and, when he could no longer contain his curiosity, he went up to the first man and asked him what he was doing. 'I'm throwing the starfish back so they don't die', the first man said. 'What?', said the second man, 'I can't see the point. There's too many. It's making no difference'. 'It is to this one!' answered the first man, as he threw another starfish back to where it belonged.
